Damn
We came very close to having a Phi Phi Island X-Mas this year. We were planning to lure state-side family to come see us for a change, promising them lovely sea and sand in Thailand after they opened their stockings. Maybe a dozen of us. Couple nights in Phuket. Then a couple hours on the ferry to Koh Phi Phi, then the somewhat precarious longboats, then maybe the last 75 yards to shore in the back of a tractor. (We've been there before, couple times.) But everyone lamed out on us so we just decided to stay home in Singapore. Damn.
The giant waves triggered by an earthquake under the Indian Ocean tossed cars around like toys and swept into luxury hotels on Phuket, a tourist magnet in Thailand's southern holiday playground, killing at least 120 people, officials said.
Meanwhile, the owner of two resorts on Phi Phi island - where the Hollywood blockbuster The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was filmed - said that 200 of his bungalows were swept out to sea, with some of his employees and customers.
I'm seeing myself trying to outrun a wall of water with a 3-year old on one arm, an 8-month old on the other and my wife slowly falling behind. All those poor people. Yeek.
you should take out blog insurance.

Wow, I'm really glad y'all stayed home, and that Belle's trip to Sri Lanka is later.
