Verbatim Conversation

she.jpg[Scene: Belle is lying in bed with the laptop; John is reading Alison Bechdel's Funhome.]
Belle: [scrolling moodily] Everyone who posts at The Corner is a dick.
John: What are you thinking about in particular?
Belle: Nothing.

I try to be open minded and intellectually honest, so I have to say that not EVERYONE at the corner is a dick--ramesh, lowery and sutteford are, at least on the corner rational humans--but the extreem insane dickiness of the rest of them brings the overall dick quotion well above 100 perscent due to bonus points.

I've spent time looking ont he internets for "mainstream" conservative content and I used to think I had found it in the Corner, but then I started thinking that: no way, they are too crazy. But now I' thinking that I was right in the first place. If anyone has any non-crazy conservatives blog suggestions for me, I would welcome them.

For a non-crazy conservative blog, try Cobb:

It's a solo effort, but the guy is sharp. & he's been on teh intertubes for a long time, under various names.

There's a solution to this problem: Don't read The Corner. Really- does it ever make you smarter? Do you learn something? Is the fun to frustration level good? I'd guess not on all of those things. So, don't read it. "But how will I keep up on my nuttiness?" you might think. The answer is other people will read it and tell you about it. And this way you'll not have wasted your time reading crap. There's too much good stuff around to waste your time reading The Corner so I strongly suggest you just don't do it.

Funhome is such an incredible graphic novel. I was just thinking about it yesterday when I almost got hit by a bus.

Fun home is real good.

I know isn't it so totally amazing? I just read it for the first time the other day.

wouldn't reading the Corner in bed lead to dreadful nightmares?

We're testing a strong CC license as a form of troll repellant. Does that sound strange? Read this thread. (I know, it's long. Keep scrolling. Further. Further. Ah, there.) So basically, we figure trolls will recognize that selling coffee cups and t-shirts is the best revenge, and will keep away. If we're wrong about that, at least someone can still sell the cups and shirts. (Sigh.)
