I grew up in Washington (OK, the suburbs), and had no idea go-go was a strictly local tradition. Weird.

E.U. got its big break in 1986 when it was booked to play a party celebrating the release of Spike Lee's debut film, She's Gotta Have It. Lee liked what he heard, and tapped the band to perform a song in his next movie, School Daze.
I totally went to that show. It was at the old 9:30 club.

Is Go-Go a Ballmer thing too? I don't know for sure but I didn't think so.

Go-Go isn't a Baltimore thing. It is pretty much just DC and its suburbs. I grew up in the Baltimore area and the first time I heard of Go-Go was from a college friend who was from the DC suburbs.

Balimore has its own music that pretty much no one else listens too.
