Hey, I'm late to the party, but congratulations! I'm glad, b/c I still harbor ambitions of visiting Singapore one day and sitting in on one of your lectures/visiting Belle's shop.

David Moles

W00t! May this presage many long years of confusion to your enemies.

Timothy Burke

Exceptionally awesome news.

jholbo

Thanks again to everyone! But, following up Dave's comments, sometimes I think to myself: my enemies would be confused even without my help. (And then I sort of wonder what it all means.) But I'm still very glad I got tenure.

ozma

Congratulations! I hope you are experiencing post-tenure as a real state, not merely an absence of a dreaded *something* that somehow leaves a dread hangover even when the something dreaded is no longer present.

And dang, does everyone facing tenure develop enemies? What's with that?

jholbo

Hey ozma, I'm in fact plowing through an insanely deep pile of grading and rather tedious academic chores that all hit at the same moment, and were additionally complicated by flu-like symptoms. The fact that I just got tenure has significantly dulled the unpleasantness of all that. And, over the next few weeks, I'm planning on experiencing post-tenure as a real state, associated with more pleasant academic-type activities.

beamish

Congratulations

Scott Lemieux

Many congrats! Alas, Henley already beat me to the obvious joke...

Anatoly Vorobey

Congratulations!

Joe

You rule, John.

  • Confused by our comment policy?

We're testing a strong CC license as a form of troll repellant. Does that sound strange? Read this thread. (I know, it's long. Keep scrolling. Further. Further. Ah, there.) So basically, we figure trolls will recognize that selling coffee cups and t-shirts is the best revenge, and will keep away. If we're wrong about that, at least someone can still sell the cups and shirts. (Sigh.)
