I guess it's true that life imitates art. (First via Sully the Shrill, second via Maud.)
Regarding the second, make sure to read the excerpt. Ahem:
... Her uniform was only slightly askew, though embarrassingly tight - thus she toted a very light lunch, and while her hair was up in back like a prancing horse's tail, Charlotte believed her top priority was reaching the tube in time to make it to the tower in time to be ready. She had no doubt she had her lines down, and Mr. Woodyard had corroborated this. "You have a loud, clear, pleasant enough voice, and it's plain you have well memorized the patter, though I must say it doesn't sound rehearsed. I would like you to stay on, so please attend to these other areas, promptness being the major one."
It reads rather like The Young Visiters.
Oh, and download your copy of the Silenced Times.
After reading the Silenced Times, I now realize that there are two cultures at war in the US: one that knows what psychological projection is, and the other that doesn't have a clue. Whoops, left out a word.
I love the partitioned US names: Columbia, Atlantica, Gulfland, Heartland, Rockland, Sunterra, and Pacifica. And that editorial cartoon!

This stuff seems like the right wing mirror, in terms of paranoid fantasies, to Brian Leiter. So there are two Americas here, no doubt, but only one of them gets lifetime employment at publicly expense.

Except, you know, I had to Google who Brian Leiter was (Felix's son?), while Jerry Jenkins sells millions of books a year.
Other than that, yeah, they're mirror images.

A fair point, Carlos, except that Brian Leiter is blogrolled on John's other forum (Crooked Timber), whereas Jerry Jenkins is not. So it depends on the circles in which you move.
