Looking Bad

This post from Lawyers, Guns and Money reminds me of something Zoe said the other day (and btw, Scott, would you please stop posting Mad Men spoilers on the front page? I'm only on season one.) The girls and I were watching some animated movie about an awesome stallion in the American west, teaming up with a Native American kid to resist the depradations of the U.S. Army. "This really happened, right?," Zoe asked, as the soldiers messed up a village. I told her, pretty much, yes. She is conscious that she's a white American rather than anything else, and so she spent the rest of the movie saying, "cut it out, Army dudes. You're making us look bad!"

Sorry! I'm always three weeks behind and assume the statute of limitations on spoilers has run out. I'll banish that material below the fold from now on.

That's funny!

It's always interesting whom your kid will identify with. So far, my kid tends to always identify with the victim in any situation. For her, this means identifying with villains as soon as they get their comeuppance in any story. Movies with endings like this sometimes often evoke lots of tears.

Bill Benzon

I felt pretty much about the Army dudes when I was a kid. When they uncovered a Gatling gun and started mowing down the Injuns, I was pissed.

    We're testing a strong CC license as a form of troll repellant. Does that sound strange? Read this thread. (I know, it's long. Keep scrolling. Further. Further. Ah, there.) So basically, we figure trolls will recognize that selling coffee cups and t-shirts is the best revenge, and will keep away.
